“I feel you’re one of the few honest marketers I’ve met” – that’s what I was told by someone just the other day…
and do you know what? This simple sentence made my day – it was the most valuable compliment I could receive.
It’s not the first time I’ve been told something along those lines, and each time it brings me both intense joy and sadness.
Joy – because I feel very honored and proud that people trust me.
Sadness – because I should NOT be one of the very few honest marketers out there. ALL marketers should be honest, not just me!
It’s sad that there is so much dishonesty and bad practices going on out there. Really sad.
I mean, it’s not sad for me and the friends I have who are also honest marketers. In fact, for us it’s great news. It means we get a chance to stand out in the crowd, doesn’t it?!
But it’s sad for all the people who get taken in the nets of lies and deception that go on in some circles.
Anyway, I don’t want to turn this post into accusations.
I just want to warn you, dear reader… if you’re looking to start an online business, do your research before you spend your money.
Buy from someone you trust.
Look at their messaging; are they truly giving you value and helping? Or are they just teasing you with juicy income screen shots?
Are they transparent? Do they “feel” honest?
Now just before I go, let me tell you one more thing: NO ONE can do the work FOR you.
Starting an online business is hard work. It takes a lot of time and at first you’ll probably make very little money, if any at all. You have to be prepared for that. You have to be willing to take consistent action, turn up even when you don’t feel like it, ride the waves and climb over the walls that you will meet along the way.
If you’re willing to do that, you’ll succeed.
When you start, be honest and transparent yourself about your journey. Don’t make people believe you’re way ahead than you really are. Honesty will pay you in the long term, it’s the only way to go.
Have a fantastic day!
